It has been almost a year since I wrote one here! A lot has changed as one can imagine. My absence has actually been due to multiple factors, the main one being that my laptop died on me in February/March of this year. That was a bummer, but thank God for a campus with 4+ libraries and who knows how many computer labs! I am currently in nursing school (full-time) and spring 2012 was by far the hardest semester, in addition to that I was working 20 hours a week at the 3rd top earning Starbucks in the nation!
Now lets move on to this past summer I did a mission trip to Haiti in May, returned to Tallahassee and did 6 weeks of summer school, went to Europe/Africa for another 6 weeks on a study abroad trip, returned to the US for 6 days and went to Haiti on another medical mission! Whew! *wipes forehead* By the time I got back to the US again it was time for me to jump right back into school.
I really wish that I could have been writing about my experiences abroad on here, but the no laptop life is already hard in the US, so you can only imagine how much harder it was abroad. In my previous post I discussed wanting to discover my talents and doing something innovative. These may not be considered as talents, but: I feel that I connect with people well, especially seeing how easy it was to fully embrace the different people and cultures that I encountered while traveling. I didn't realized this until I saw how hard it was for others my group. My second (developing) "talent" is to learn as many languages as I can. I am working on my 3rd and 4th right now and will pick up my 5th this upcoming summer. I also did a mini photo shoot or 2.
This upcoming year and even as early as December, I have so much to look forward to. I hope to be able to update on here while all of that is taking place, but if not my Instagram is usually the first thing that I update considering I always have access to that rather than a computer to get on here. My Instagram name is OldineLyncia.
I will post some pictures of my amazing summer below.
